Clever and easy to train, Shepadoodles weigh between 60 and 90 pounds as adults and need regular exercise outdoors to stay fit and happy. There are 600,000 pet dogs in New York City alone—plus 400,000 pet cats. The first official dog park in NYC was Tompkins Square Dog Run, opened in 1990. Tompkins is an off-leash haven for the city’s canines, featuring wading pools in the summer and two designated play areas for large dogs and small dogs. Outside of the state’s capital city, you can chill with Fido on the dog-friendly beaches, B&B getaways, campsites and countless eateries. New Yorkers stand out as usual with their unique taste, their favourite dog breed being the Cockapoo! That’s a mix between a Cocker Spaniel and a Poodle, and just the right size and temperament for apartment living.
New York City has more than 20 registered dog spas.
