The Yorkshire Terrier, also known as Yorkie, is a tiny breed that gets no bigger than 7 lbs. Although compact in size, they sport an outsized personality. They know how to be bossy and have quite the sassy attitude! Because of their spicy personality, they may not be the best around other stubborn minds like toddlers. Yorkies are extremely affectionate and make for close and loving companions. This small breed can live to be about 16 years of age.

An estimated 28 percent of Quebecois households include at least one dog, while about 10 percent include one cat and one dog. That puts Quebec’s total dog population at just over one million—and most of them are rescued. Top dog hiking trails in the province include Monts Sourire et Petit Carcan and Mont Larose, and there are more in the Parc Nacional du Bic. If you’re a dogless dog-lover at the moment and need some canine interaction in your life, check out one of the many dog sledding excursions throughout the Laurentian Mountains!
The preferred dog breed of the Quebecois is the German Shepherd.
