They can be quite the charmers too with their confident personalities. They also love to be active and make for a wonderful hiking companion! Shiba Inu’s do well in all types of environments but their favorite is the mountainous outdoors. They are great for all types of owners, whether single young adults, or bigger families. Many businesses in Maryland welcome four-legged guests, and there are dog-friendly activities scheduled year-round for the social, energetic doggy of this state. Hit up the beach with your furry family members at Down Park Dog Beach in Pasadena, Quiet Waters Park Dog Beach in Annapolis, or Dog Beach at Matapeake Park in Queen Anne’s County. Since dogs aren’t allowed generally in restaurants or bars in this state, it’s a good idea to stick to pet-friendly neighbourhoods while visiting or spending the day in town. In Baltimore, that includes Mt. Washington, Butcher’s Hill, Charles Village and Locust Point, where residents have access to large yards, dog parks, nature trails and even the odd pet-friendly bar or two.
In 1964 the Chesapeake Bay Retriever was declared the official dog of Maryland.
Most Maryland dog lovers prefer the state dog, as well as Labradors, German Shepherds and Golden Retrievers.
In Baltimore, the American Pit Bull Terrier is the favourite mixed breed!
