The famed Saint Bernard was born in the Swiss Alps almost 1,000 years ago. Named for a monk called Bernard of Menthon, the dogs carried out their namesake's work by locating and rescuing stranded pilgrims on their way to Rome. Powerful yet gentle and determined, Saint Bernards aren't just the heroes of the snowy Swiss mountains but also the patient and loving heroes of the family home. They make wonderful family dogs.
