The Portuguese Pointer is a type of gun dog that hails from the Iberian Peninsuela (Portugal and Spain). These sporting dogs were developed in the 12th century, making them a very old hunting breed. They are not only active and dutiful, but also highly kind, affectionate, and submissive. They care about their owners to a fault, and so make excellent companions for active families.
