The Pekingese is a toy companion dog that originated with ancient China's emperors. Extremely loyal, these dogs are easy to identify by their long, fluffy orange-red fur and tiny black faces. Considered an opinionated breed, Pekingese can be quite independent and are not necessarily great with vivacious children. They are very loyal to their owners. The breed stands about 6 to 9 inches at the shoulder and can weigh up to 14 pounds.
