The Keeshond is a medium-sized dog with a tell-tale grey, black and cream-coloured coat and a big fluffy tail. Adults weigh between 35-45 pounds and are very clever, fun and alert. Known traditionally as the Dutch Barge Dog, the Keeshond breed once worked on small boats and barges throughout the Netherlands. A very social dog, the Keeshond loves spending time with people. A good size and temperament for apartment life, this breed prefers not to be left alone and may need training so as not to bark too much at visitors.
