The Frenchton is a cross between the Boston terrier and the French bulldog. Small in stature, they stand between 28 and 35 centimeters in height and weigh about 7 to 11 kilograms. Playful and calm, these little dogs make great family pets and travelling companions. They love children and can enjoy life in smaller homes. Frenchtons are easy to groom and train, though their short fur makes them vulnerable to extreme weather. A little doggy coat in the winter, or sunscreen in the summer, might be in order.

Go hiking, take a tour, get something to eat and go camping together with your dog—and bring family and friends too, if you want. Dog lovers in Michigan prefer Labrador Retrievers, German Shepherds and Golden Retrievers over most other breeds, but there’s plenty of variety in the state’s more than 2 million pet dogs. About 35 percent of households in this state have at least one dog, compared with 31 percent who have at least one cat.
