Attentive, alert and affectionate, the English Springer Spaniel stands up to 56 centimetres in height and weighs up to 25 kilograms. A classic and pretty breed, these dogs were bred to accompany bird hunters into the field and retrieve prey. Though they can be hard-working and athletic, the English Springer Spaniel is also calm-tempered and well-behaved when not hunting or participating in sport. They are eager for the attention of their owners and families and can become sad and despondent when ignored or left alone too long. English Springer Spaniels are perfect for families and thrive on affection and playtime with their loved ones.

Vermont is a very dog-friendly state, where you can find artist Stephen Huneck’s Dog Mountain.
