The Dogue de Bordeaux is a mastiff-type dog that stands between 23 and 26 inches tall and weighs between 99 and 110 pounds. Their ancient line legendarily began with the war dogs of colonial Rome, which were brought to France beside legions of soldiers. They've worked as hunters, guardians and even livestock drovers. Dogues require a great deal of space and firm training from puppyhood. Wrinkle-faced and stocky, a well-trained Dogue de Bordeaux suits an active family it can protect and exercise with.

Alaska is home to some of the great natural wonders of the world, and thanks to its dog-friendly culture, you can experience many of them together with your dog! Hike the trails at the Far North Bicentennial Park in Anchorage, or the Tongass National Forest in Juneau. Your dog will also love spending an afternoon at Connor’s Bog Dog Park in Anchorage, or at the Lake Lucille Dog Park in Wasilla. If you haven’t brought your own dog with you on an Alaskan holiday, look into special hiking (or sledding) excursions with cold-weather Huskies!
