Daug is small to a medium-sized canine that is a cross between the Dachshund and Pug. The Daug makes a loving, low-maintenance canine companion that requires only moderate exercise, However, the downside of this canine cutie is its voice, and a love of barking, which means they may rile close neighbors. Quite heavily built and muscular when it comes to a small dog but it can make an excellent pet for a family or seniors who want a cuddling, entertaining, and fun buddy.

The north-eastern coastal state of Massachusetts was one of the first regions of the Americas where Europeans settled a few centuries ago. When settlers came to these shores, they often brought their canine companions along with them. There were two dogs on the Mayflower, and they didn’t take the long voyage from England just to keep their families company! Dogs were working animals in the early European settlements of Massachusetts, protecting livestock from wolves, foxes and other predators. Most of those first immigrant dogs were Mastiffs, Greyhounds and English Setters. By 1784, there were an estimated 30,000 dogs in the entire state.

The Massachusetts state dog is named after the capital city: the Boston Terrier.
