Chongqings are one of the oldest dog breeds and originate from the Chongqing region of China. They have a muscular build and weigh about 40 to 55 pounds. The Chongqing dog is protective in its nature, and tihs temperament stems from its history as a guard and hunting dog. Even today, this breed is used as a police or military dog in China. Chongqing Dogs are loyal companions and can make excellent family guard dogs. However, these dogs can have a stubborn mindset, which can make them difficult to train.
