Chongqings are one of the oldest dog breeds and originate from the Chongqing region of China. They have a muscular build and weigh about 40 to 55 pounds. The Chongqing dog is protective in its nature, and tihs temperament stems from its history as a guard and hunting dog. Even today, this breed is used as a police or military dog in China. Chongqing Dogs are loyal companions and can make excellent family guard dogs. However, these dogs can have a stubborn mindset, which can make them difficult to train. For this reason, it’s important that you provide early socialization for your Chongqing pup, especially if you have other pets or children at home.
