25% Cavalier, 25% Yorkie, 50% poodle. This adorable breed sheds very little, making it perfect for allergy sensitive families. They have a great mix of mellowness from their Yorkie and Cavalier genes, mixed with a dash of playfulness from their Poodle genes. They are perfect for families, whether for an active family, or cuddling for a movie. They are smart and easy to train. Because of this, they also make for great service dogs! The Pennsylvania state dog is none other than the regal and formidable Great Dane, a dog breed that worked hard alongside its early European settler companions. The state legislature formalized the standing of the state dog in 1965, stating: "...WHEREAS, the physical and other attributes of the Great Dane, to wit: size, strength, beauty, intelligence, tolerance, courage, faithfulness, trustworthiness and stability exemplify those of Pennsylvania.” As for the household dog owners of Pennsylvania, their other favourites include Pit Bulls, Rottweilers and German Shepherds, plus a host of Doodle Dogs. Dog owners in the Keystone State enjoy access to miles and miles of dog-friendly hiking trails.
The Kennel Club of Philadelphia Dog Shows has been an (almost) annual event since 1879.
Pennsylvania allows dogs at more than 50 of its state parks.
