The Bouvier des Flandres dog has its origins in Flanders, Belgium, where monks are said to have bred Irish wolfhounds, Scottish deerhounds and local Belgian dogs. The Bouvier is a natural herder and these dogs still often work on farms or as police dogs. The Bouvier des Flandres’ double coats grow in black, grey, or a mixture of the two. These dogs grow as large as 80-120 pounds as adults and need sufficient space to use up their working-dog energy levels. Gentle and sweet, this is a great family breed.

Delaware State Parks are dog-friendly, so you can bring your best furry friend for a hike in your home state anytime you like. Dogs are also allowed on many of Delaware’s beautiful beaches, though often according to an annual schedule. Rehoboth Beach, for example, welcomes canine visitors between the months of October and April. Check out Elsmere’s dog park when your dog could do with a social visit, and play together on the agility training equipment. Residents and visitors alike will enjoy stopping by the pet-friendly cafés, breweries, pubs, and dog parks available in this picturesque state! You and your dog can even see a movie together at the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand
