The Borzoi is a breed that embodies the grace of a gazelle and the power of an athlete. With their distinctive build and glorious silky coats, these dogs are quick to turn heads and captivate hearts. While they may seem aloof at first glance, don't be fooled; Borzois are affectionate and loyal companions, creating a profound bond with their human families. Their independent nature requires a gentle, patient approach to training, but substantial rewards await those who put in the effort. Remember, these elegant canines thrive on regular exercise, with a necessity for secure, open spaces where they can stretch their long legs and run.

New Hampshire’s colonial history is closely entwined with dogs, especially the working sled dogs bred here in the early 20th century. The modern Granite State is still home to sled dogs as well as pampered pet canines who love spending time in the dog parks and visiting the dozens of trails, rivers, lakes and woods of the White Mountains National Forest. Pups who love to get wet and wild at the beach have a couple of great options, too: Foss Beach, Seabrook Beach and Great Island Common offer plenty of natural space and fresh air for doggies to run and play during the off-season and outside of peak visitor hours.
The New Hampshire state dog is the Chinook, which is the only breed native to this state.
The most popular dog breed for pet owners in New Hampshire is the Labrador Retriever.
A Golden Retriever named Ollie served as Bat Dog for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats baseball team from 2008 to 2016.
