The Australian Stumpy Tail Cattle Dog is a valiant and hard-working breed known for its exceptional herding instincts. Built for an active lifestyle, these dogs are robust and require plenty of physical and mental stimulation. They display an intense loyalty towards their owners, and their protective nature makes them excellent guard dogs. Despite their tough exterior, these dogs are known to be affectionate with their families, offering a balance between work and play. However, their strong-willed disposition necessitates a determined and experienced owner who can effectively provide the training and leadership they require.

The Pennsylvania state dog is none other than the regal and formidable Great Dane, a dog breed that worked hard alongside its early European settler companions. The state legislature formalized the standing of the state dog in 1965, stating: "...WHEREAS, the physical and other attributes of the Great Dane, to wit: size, strength, beauty, intelligence, tolerance, courage, faithfulness, trustworthiness and stability exemplify those of Pennsylvania.” As for the household dog owners of Pennsylvania, their other favourites include Pit Bulls, Rottweilers and German Shepherds, plus a host of Doodle Dogs. Dog owners in the Keystone State enjoy access to miles and miles of dog-friendly hiking trails.
The Kennel Club of Philadelphia Dog Shows has been an (almost) annual event since 1879.
