This breed had a sad start as 18th-century fighting and baiting dogs. When the breed came to the United States it evolved into a friendly, loyal and intelligent dog, which has separated from the original Staffordshire bull terrier. A stocky and intimidating dog when it wants to be, the AmStaff can be black, brindle, blue, brown, fawn or sable. American Staffordshire terriers stand about 43 to 48 centimeters in height and weighs about 18 to 32 kilograms.
