The Alaskan Malamute stands out from the pack, an obvious working dog. They can be easily recognized from their thick white coat and brown fur, outlining their friendly face and sensitive brown eyes. Malamutes stand 23-25 inches tall and weigh up to 85 pounds, and are natural pack animals with a life expectancy of 10-14 years. Easily trained, Alaskan Malamutes should start learning from puppyhood to make sure they don't try to train you instead! A well-trained Malamute is great with families and kids and enjoys plenty of space to stretch his or her muscles.

Hawaii is a wonderful place for all people and their dogs—and that’s why it’s a bit complicated to bring a dog into the state. Health laws mean you’ll need to do some paperwork with your veterinarian before visiting. It’s worth it! Swimming, paddleboarding, boating and mountain hiking all await the two of you in beautiful Hawaii. Tackle the 1871 Trail at Pu'u O Honauna National Historic Park, or splash around in the waves under the sun at one of the state’s many dog-friendly beaches, including Dog Beach at Honokohau Harbor. When it’s mealtime, check out one of the state’s many delectable dog-friendly eateries, such as Greek Marina and Barefoot Beach Café.
The extinct Hawaiian Poi Dog guarded children—and was also baked and eaten.
Hawaiians’ favourite breed is the French Bulldog.
Hawaii is rabies free, which means all dogs entering this state must be vaccinated!
