The German Pinscher is a lively, strong and smart dog that is one of Germany's oldest breeds. These dogs were first put to work as rat catchers, so if you want a Pinscher to share its home with cats and other small animals you’ll need to socialize them from puppyhood. Lean and muscular, German Pinschers weigh between 25 and 45 pounds and have thin, shining coats, with small, pointed heads. These dogs are loyal to their families and courageous in protecting them.
