Bred to hunt and retrieve game birds, the German Longhaired Pointer is a classic hunting dog that also enjoys swimming. Centuries of specialized breeding mean that these dogs are excellent gun dogs and athletes, but their preferences and skills aren’t confined to the outdoors. German Longhaired Pointers also make great family dogs! Of course, they need plenty of exercise and would love to accompany their owners on a hike or a swim.
