The Caucasian Shepherd Dog is an ancient resident of the Caucasus Mountains, where it worked as a livestock herder, hunter and guard. Weighing in at 100-110 pounds, the Caucasian Shepherd Dog is a big, burly and fluffy dog with a double coat to keep it warm in the mountains. Instinctually territorial and protective of their families, Caucasian Shepherds are best suited to cooler climates and larger homes.
