Reaching 25-40 pounds in adulthood, the Boykin Spaniel was bred as a bird hunting dog. A little surprisingly, these dogs make quite mellow house pets while retaining their vigour and enthusiasm in the field. Boykins have that classic Spaniel look with long, floppy ears and short tail, their bodies covered in wavy brown fur. Unlike their cousins, however, Boykin Spaniels have webbed feet and love to swim. They do well in homes with playful, outdoorsy owners.

Alaska is home to some of the great natural wonders of the world, and thanks to its dog-friendly culture, you can experience many of them together with your dog! Hike the trails at the Far North Bicentennial Park in Anchorage, or the Tongass National Forest in Juneau. Your dog will also love spending an afternoon at Connor’s Bog Dog Park in Anchorage, or at the Lake Lucille Dog Park in Wasilla. If you haven’t brought your own dog with you on an Alaskan holiday, look into special hiking (or sledding) excursions with cold-weather Huskies!
