The American Leopard Hound is known for its hunting and tracking abilities. Having made its way to North America via the Spanish conquistadors in the 15 th and 16 th centuries, these dogs are usually happy in warm or cool climates. The breed is typically medium to large in size, with a short, dense coat that is usually a combination of red, brindle, black, blue, and white. They have a strong, athletic build and weigh between 35 and 75 pounds fully grown.
